SIGILLUM Terms of Service

1. Service provider

SIGILLUM is provided by MAORI DI MARCELLO ORIZIO. Identification and contact details are shown at the end of this page.

2. Purpose of the service

SIGILLUM provides technical tools to create, sign, register and verify evidence concerning the provenance and integrity of photos, videos and text through HCV-IDs, cryptographic fingerprints, signed certificates, HCVPACK and an online Registry. SIGILLUM does not guarantee the substantive truth of what content depicts or states and does not replace a legal, notarial, judicial or forensic expert report. HCVPACK may constitute a technical and documentary basis for later independent verification or expert assessment.

3. Free verification and Creator functions

Verification of already-certified content may be available free of charge. Creator functions require the eligibility conditions shown in the service, including age 18+, a valid account, verified email, acceptance of these Terms, acknowledgement of the Privacy Policy, identity verification and an active subscription where required.

4. Account and security

Users must provide accurate information, protect their credentials and not improperly share account access. SIGILLUM may bind the account and certificates to a secure device key to strengthen the technical association.

5. Identity verification

Creator identity verification is performed through Stripe Identity. Verification links a real person to the account but does not certify professional reliability, truthfulness of statements or the substantive truth of certified content.

6. App Store subscriptions

iOS subscriptions are handled through Apple App Store. Price, duration and renewal information are shown in the Apple purchase flow. Deleting a SIGILLUM account does not automatically cancel an Apple subscription, which must be managed separately through Apple.

7. Certificates, HCVPACK, Registry and reference copy

A valid HCV certificate is associated with an HCV-ID and contains the technical elements required for verification. Certified photos and videos are kept encrypted in the app’s private area together with the HCVPACK. When a Creator chooses to share an original to an external service, SIGILLUM verifies the content and first registers an official reference copy on the SIGILLUM YouTube channel, normally as unlisted. The publication record binds the HCV-ID, original hash, HCVPACK hash and reference-derivative hash. A copy later made available on a social or other external service may be modified by third parties and does not automatically retain exact-original status. A subscription controls access to the reference through SIGILLUM, but an unlisted YouTube link already obtained can be shared and opened outside the app.

8. Permitted use

Users are responsible for content they create, certify, publish or share and must have the required rights and permissions. SIGILLUM must not be used for fraud, impersonation, infringement of third-party rights, unlawful content, certificate tampering or attacks on security controls.

9. Technical limitations

No security or classification system can eliminate every error, outage, false positive or false negative. Screen-replay risk, synthetic signals, recompression and scene-analysis indicators must be interpreted together with the other technical elements and the context.

10. Availability and changes

The service may require maintenance, security updates or functional changes. Some functions depend on Apple, Stripe, cloud infrastructure, email and other third-party services.

11. Suspension and termination

SIGILLUM may suspend or limit accounts in cases of abuse, fraud, violations, security risks or lawful authority requests. Users may request account deletion from the app.

12. Intellectual property

Software, trademarks, graphics, documentation and proprietary components remain the property of their respective owners. Users retain rights in their content and grant only the technical permissions strictly required for certification, registration and verification.

13. Privacy

Personal-data processing is described in the SIGILLUM Privacy Policy. Identity verification also involves processing by Stripe under the notices presented in the relevant flow.

14. Liability and mandatory rights

All rights and liabilities that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited remain unaffected, including mandatory consumer rights. SIGILLUM is not responsible for interpretations of certificates that go beyond what the technical controls actually establish.

15. Governing law and disputes

Mandatory rules available to users based on their place of residence remain applicable. Subject to those rules, the relationship is governed by Italian law and disputes are handled by the competent courts under applicable rules.
